New York, 1895
Last year a bill was sent to the Legislature in the interest of the people of this county. It failed to pass because the gentleman who took it to the capital would not shell out to have it pushed. This year other bills have been sent to Albany in the public interest, with the indorsement of the Supervisors, and these bills, too, are threatened with the fate of last year's bill. This statement does not apply to Senator Childs.
We believe that Senator Childs will be able to kill the tunnel bill. More power to the Senator. He's doing good work.
—The Long Island Farmer, Jamaica, NY, Feb. 1, 1895, p. 4.
