Fire in the Glen Cove Schoolhouse

New York, 1895

Shortly before 12 o'clock Tuesday a fire was discovered in the school-house at Glen Cove. Miss Armstrong saw smoke coming from the cloak-room. The janitor and some boys had to tear up the floor to extinguish the fire.


A Black Mark on McGinnes

Richard McGinnes of Company C, United States engineers, stationed at Willets' Point, has been dishonorably discharged by order of the court martial, which tried him for neglect of duty and bad conduct.
