Brooklyn Hills Still Dissatisfied With The Lamps

New York, 1895

They Want Some of the Lights Transferred to More Convenient Places — Highway Commissioners Sign the New Railroad Agreement.

The town board held a meeting at the Town Hall on Friday. Supervisor Everitt presided. A committee of tax payers from Brooklyn Hills asked that some changes be made in the location of the lamps recently erected there. They claim that some of the lights are of little benefit. The matter was referred to the lighting committee.

The following bills were ordered paid: J. Tyler Watts, insurance on Town Hall, $280.68; Jamaica gas light company, gas furnished Town Hall, from December 27th to January 27th, $39.50; Jamaica water supply company, water furnished Town Hall, $25; Benjamin Lieber, mason work in Town Hall, $7.50; Leonard Rouf, two carriages to convey prisoners from Aqueduct to Jamaica, $10; B. E. Leach, rent of ground on Union Hall street for portable house, $14; Remsen Lamberson, rent for land for portable house, $7; T. F. Archer's Sons, insurance on Town Hall, $280; John W. Murphy, three months salary as janitor of Town Hall, $125.

The committee on desks for the town board and Supervisor's room reported progress. Oyster land leases were granted as follows: William Gregory, 3 acres, $15; White Foster, 2 acres, $10; Warren Cornell, 3 acres, $15; Furman S. Johnson, 1 acre, $5; Edgar Johnson, 2½ acres, $12.50; Charles L. Pearsall, 2½ acres, $12.50.
