American Cattle in Europe

New York, 1895

Dr. J. F. Ryder, of Jamaica, is an inspector of cattle at Liverpool, England, for the United States Government. He has been abroad several years. In a letter to his father, Stephen Ryder, of Jamaica, he states that from January 1, 18[*] to January 1, 1895, there were received in Liverpool from ports in the United States 181,588 cattle. The ships that carried them made 356 voyages. The number of cattle lost at sea was 424. These are interesting statistics.
