The Eagle remarked editorially on Sunday:
According to the Patchogue Advance "Suffolk County Judge Wilmont M. Smith could well be nominated as one of the justices of the Supreme Court." The Eagle is glad to say that Judge Smith has the ability, character and experience requisite for the position and has them in ample measure.
And THE FARMER endorses every word the Eagle says. Here, then, are two Democratic papers that dare say a good word for a Republican. The reason is that we want strong and honest judges on the bench.
