New York, 1895
Judge Garretson, after giving the matter a full hearing and thorough investigation, has signed an order removing from office the excise commissioners of the town of Newtown, Michael Doyle, Frank P. Krug and John F. McGowan.
The order must be approved by the governor. Judge Garretson finds that Commissioner Krug was guilty of neglect of duty and misconduct; that he failed to turn over to the supervisor excise funds within the prescribed time; that he accepted $20 for voting for the granting of a certain license, and other irregularities. The findings against the other two members are of a similar character.
Governor Morton on Tuesday approved the findings of Judge Garretson, removing Excise Commissioners Michael Doyle, John F. McGowan and Frank P. Krug, of Newtown, from office.
