BROOKLYN HILLS PEOPLE WANT MORE LAMPS IN THE DISTRICT.

Oyster Planters Renewing Their Leases of Bay Lands — Appointment of Overseers of Road Districts — Proposing to Buy Toll Road Franchises.

The town board of Jamaica held a meeting at the Town Hall on Friday. Supervisor Everitt presided. A petition was received from a number of the residents of Brooklyn Hills, asking that fourteen additional lamps be placed in the lighting district.

Supervisor Everitt said the contract for lighting had already been made for one year. The only thing to do was to have those lamps already placed changed. The matter was referred to a committee.

The following bills were ordered paid: Henry M. Livingston[*], poll clerk, $6; George L. Adams, furnishing shades for tax receiver's room, $5.50; Damon & Doughty, premium for insurance on Town Hall, $290; David B. Andrews, poll clerk, $6; Herring-Hall-Marvin safe company, changing combination on safe in tax receiver's office, $4; Charles H. Freese, mason work at Town Hall, $4.15.

Oyster leases were granted as follows: George H. Mott, 2½ acres, $12.50; Mary E. Mott, 3 acres, $15; Samuel D. Abrams, Jr., 2 acres, $10; Robert H. Pearsall, 1 acre, $5; Thomas Pearsall, 2½ acres, $12.50; William H. Watts, ½ acre, $2.50; Michel Hamm, 3 acres, $15; Peter Davenport, 1 acre, $5.
