Sold the Bonds at Last

New York, 1895

The board of education of the village of Jamaica met on Tuesday for the purpose of opening bids for the $70,000 worth of bonds. Only one bid was received, that of the Jamaica Savings Bank, whose bid was 100 2-1000, at which price they were awarded the bonds, being a premium of $14.


A Good Appointment

James P. Bessemer, of Union Hall street, Jamaica, has been appointed cashier of the Queens County Bank at Long Island City. Mr. Bessemer has been connected with the bank ever since its organization.
