Stoothoff Farm to be Sold

New York, 1895

The Stoothoff farm near the water works at Jamaica South will be sold by order of the County Court of Queens County, under the direction of Edward Cromwell, Referee, at the Town Hall in the village of Jamaica, on Saturday, May 11, 1895, at ten o'clock in the forenoon. This is valuable property and must be sold.


Fire at Oyster Bay

A large two-story and basement frame building, owned by J. B. Wright, and occupied by Fred Monilaws and his sisters on Orchard street, Oyster Bay, was destroyed by fire Thursday night. The loss is estimated at $2,000; no insurance.


Chub Club Incorporated

A certificate of incorporation of the Chub Club of Jamaica has been filed with the secretary of state. The trustees for the first year are Charles A. Lockwood, John Callister, Charles E. Twombly, Theodore R. Chapman and Henry Willett. The business of the club is to promote the benefit of its members by social intercourse and gastronomic diversion.
