Long Island City Bills

New York, 1895

A conference concerning the merits of Long Island City bills at present pending before the Legislature was held Sunday in Mayor Sanford's office.

The Mayor, City Treasurer Knapp and Assemblymen Madden and Vacheron took part. The discussion resulted in an agreement to an amendment to allow Treasurer Knapp extra clerk hire for work in connection with the tax bill. The Water Pipe Extension bill, allowing the board to expend $25,000 per year in extending the system for the years of 1895, 1896 and 1897, was changed to provide for the expenditure of $25,000 only for 1895, and $5,000 thereafter.
