The hunting season, which was to have commenced with the Meadow Brook club at Hempstead on Wednesday, has been postponed until the last of the month, on account of the frozen and slippery condition of the turf.
Inspected the New Railroad
President Corbin and General Manager Reynolds of the Long Island railroad were at East Hampton Monday to look over the line of the new extension from Bridgehampton to Amagansett. They also examined into the location of the Easthampton station and completed their plans for the road and its operation.
Will Open Sunday Afternoons
At a meeting of the Jamaica Club of which William F. Wyckoff is president, held at the club house Saturday evening, a resolution was passed by a vote of forty-one to eleven to open the club house Sundays from 2 to 6 P. M.
Money for a Hospital
A joint meeting of the various town boards of Flushing was held Tuesday afternoon for the purpose of fixing the appropriations to be voted for at the spring election. Mrs. J. L. Wicks, president of the Flushing hospital, made a requisition for $6,000 on the strength of the bill passed by the legislature last week. The appropriation was granted. Bitter opposition has manifested itself. Many taxpayers are adverse to voting $6,000 for the support of a private corporation.
The Next Teachers' Meeting
The spring session of the teachers' association will be held at Woodside, March 16.
