Meeting of Highway Commissioners

New York, 1895

The Jamaica highway commissioners met at the Town Hall on Tuesday. Commissioner Wolff presided. Commissioner Baker was absent. The bond of John H. Valentine, contractor, for laying out and grading Higbie avenue, Springfield, was approved in the sum of $1,000,

Commissioner Wolff reported that he had served notices in the matter of opening Oakley avenue, Woodhaven, upon all the parties through whose land the avenues will run.


Town Bonds Sold

Supervisor Everitt on Tuesday sold the $40,000 worth of Town Hall bonds for one and one-eighth premium, the Bank of Jamaica taking $20,000, and the Jamaica Savings Bank $20,000. The bonds are for $1,000 each, bearing four per cent. interest, the last bond being payable in 1925.
