Deficiency in the Funds

New York, 1895

The annual meeting of the board of directors of the Suffolk County agricultural society was held on Tuesday afternoon and evening. The treasurer's report showed that the total receipts for 1894 were $5,757.95 and the disbursements $7,795.07, leaving a deficiency of $2,037.12.


Cordage Works Shut Down

The cordage works of John Good, in the Ravenswood section of Long Island City, have been shut down an indefinite time. The closing throws a large force of men and women out of employment.


A Severe Excise Penalty

A. L. Crawford, proprietor of the Patchogue hotel, was on Friday convicted before Justice Price of selling liquor without a license, and was sentenced to pay a fine of $50 and to be imprisoned for nine months.
