Building Operations

New York, 1895

The outlook is good for a busy spring for Jamaica carpenters and masons. A number of persons contemplate building. At Morris Park W. H. Tymeson is building a cottage to cost $3,000. Neils Pedersen and John Purdy are also building cottages, and W. J. Conway is erecting three flats on the Campion farm. E. H. Stone, Mr. Kreig, Mr. Brutkopf, Mr. Sellers, Mr. Lorenze, and Mr. Whitlock are building cottages. James Scott is remodeling the old Marvin place on Puntine street, Jamaica, for a dwelling. Charles Hicks is building a cottage on the King property, and Asa Smith a house on Willow street.

Sale of 1,237 Tax Lots

The annual sale of property in the town of Jamaica for arrears of taxes was held on Monday at the Town Hall by County Treasurer Dykes. One thousand two hundred and thirty-seven lots were sold, many being redeemed before the sale.

Changes in the Bank

Richard Van Siclen has given up his position in the Jamaica Bank to accept a place as bookeeper with Hendrickson & Co. Mr. Stitcher, of Morris Park, has taken the place vacated by Mr. Van Siclen.
