Warrants were sworn out on Monday for the arrest of George Levitt and Mrs. Benemelis, of Dunton, by Col. Levin Crandall, a war veteran residing on the corner of Wyoming and Van Wyck avenues, who alleges that Levitt and Mrs. Benemelis came to his house and assaulted him, Levitt striking him in the face and Mrs. Benemelis hitting him several times with a hammer. Mrs. Benemelis claims to be the agent for the house occupied by Mr. Crandall, and the assault was the result of his removing "To Let" bills that had been tacked up. Mr. Crandall was arrested on a charge of assault made by Mrs. Benemelis. The case was adjourned by Justice Hendrickson until the 20th inst.
Newtown Tax Sale
County Treasurer Dykes on Monday sold 5,000 lots at Newtown for unpaid taxes. A large number were knocked down to the town.
