Waiting for a Premium

New York, 1895

Mr. Tapp, of the village board of education, was asked yesterday if the contract had been awarded for building the new High School. He replied, "No, and it will not be until we have some money." The Town Hall bonds sold without difficulty at a premium, and yet it seems impossible to sell the school bonds at par, according to the board of education. We understand that the Jamaica savings bank is willing to take the bonds.

Across Long Island by Trolley

At a meeting at Port Jefferson Tuesday night it was resolved to organize a company with a capital of $15,000, for the purpose of building a single-track trolley road from the village to Patchogue and the Great South Bay. The road is to carry freight as well as passengers.
