The Town of Jamaica Authorized to Issue $40,000 of Bonds.
The board of Supervisors met at the Court House in Long Island City yesterday.
A resolution was adopted authorizing the town of Jamaica to issue bonds in the sum of $40,000 for Town Hall improvements. The bonds are to bear four per cent. interest.
Counselor Van Vechten informed the board that the county road act approved by the board has passed the Senate, and had got lost in the Assembly. From the information he has, he is of the opinion that the bill will not be passed unless the board pushes it.
Supervisor Koehler wanted to know what was the matter with the Republican Assemblymen. When the county was represented by Democrats these delays in legislation were not heard of.
In the action of Roswell W. Keene to compel the Supervisors of Kings and Queens Counties to build a bridge over Maspeth avenue, the Court of Appeals has decided against the county, saying in effect that the Supervisors are bound to build bridges when requested to do so. The county won the case in the Supreme Court and General Term. The matter has been in litigation for about four years and stands just where it started. Upon payment of the costs Mr. Keene will have to begin his proceedings all over again.
