Arcanumites to Meet.

New York, 1895

Arrangements are about completed for the gathering of all the councils of District No. 24 B, of the Royal Arcanum, which will be held in Hicksville on Royal Arcanum day, June 24. The district includes the councils of Hempstead, Glen Cove, Oyster Bay, Farmingdale and Hicksville.


Laid the Cornerstone.

Henry Newins, ex-county treasurer of Suffolk county, laid the cornerstone for the new county clerk's and surrogate's office at Riverhead on Friday. After the ceremony all were invited to the Griffin house, where a collation was served.


Long Island Railroad Extension.

Work on the Long Island railroad extension is now proceeding night and day in sections all along the line from Amagansett to Neapeague harbor. Two hundred and fifty men and thirty-four teams of horses are at work.
