Morton's Veto Feared

New York, 1895

Jamaica Normal School Appropriation in Danger.

(Correspondence Of THE FARMER.)

ALBANY, April 18.

The bill appropriating $50,000 additional for the normal school in Jamaica will probably be vetoed by Governor Morton. Senator Childs is very wrathy over the Governor's attitude. Congressman McCormick has been here for several days, and has talked and talked to the Governor in behalf of the bill, but it seems to have had no favorable effect upon him. Mr. Childs is using every proper influence to persuade the Governor to sign the bill, and he may finally succeed, but the outlook is not assuring.
