A sensational possibility for the nomination for State senator, on the Democratic ticket in Queens county next fall, is ex-Supervisor Edward N. Townsend, now editor of the Oyster Bay Pilot. Mr. Townsend will run as a candidate against monopoly, and expects to win. He would certainly make the canvass lively and interesting for his Republican opponent, but as to his success, that depends largely upon the man named against him. There are several aspiring Republicans whom the writer has in mind who would be easy prey for Mr. Townsend, and in the event of his nomination these men should be turned aside. The present senator, Mr. Childs, is so far the strongest man named on the Republican side. The senator has made friends by his course at Albany the past winter, and has shown himself a people's representative in every sense of the word. — Brooklyn Times.
