New York, 1895
Justice Bartlett presided at the opening of the Supreme court in Long Island City Monday morning. Quite a lengthy calendar was called. In charging the grand jury the justice referred to a belief prevailing at present that all public officials were corrupt. This he asserted was decidedly wrong. If all public officials were corrupt it would destroy the government. An honest official would at all times court an investigation into his affairs.
